Exploring Intersections of Race, Gender, and Identity in Toni Morrison’s “A Mercy” and Bell Hooks’ “Ain’t I A Woman”

here are the instructions from my professor:

Research and write a 3000 word essay in which you address one of the set research topics: Species, Wartime, Discipline, Shame, History, Displacement, Nation, Climate, Testimony.

You must discuss two or more texts, in relation to an essay question devised by you. This question should allow you to bring together and compare your chosen texts, by explaining in the introduction and conclusion their connections and differences.

Guidance notes:

the topics are intended to guide and support your research and not to offer strict limits against which work will be judged. You are free to respond to, develop, narrow and refine and/or combine topics in whatever way you find productive for your research.

You are allowed to change your idea from your abstract submission.

You are also permitted to reuse revised material from your abstract in your essay (usually as part of your introduction).

i have attatched the annotated bibliography and essay abstract that go along with this essay for guidance – these include the sources to be used for the essay. if you need any more information please let me know!
