Final Paper
You are expected to submit a reflective essay on what politics is to you. All of you who took my course this semester chose to study politics for your reasons. In this assignment, you are supposed to explain your motivation for studying politics reasonably and consistently. This should not be an easy task, as it may seem. You must refer to the materials you have learned in class to receive a good grade. Besides, I expect you to refer to your country’s historical events, the country of interest, and personal experiences. In this assignment, I want you to put yourself in the context of world politics as a pioneer of social and political change.
This paper should be 1200 – 1500 words in length, A4, double spaced, normal margin (1-inch) and #12 type size. You may turn in this paper anytime during the semester but no later than May 7. An optional rough draft containing the necessary words and sources may be completed by April 28. I will provide helpful instructions on how to write an exemplary piece closer to the date.
Eventually, I want to read your reflective essay on what politics is to you. Are you interested in world politics? Write about what inspired you, and discuss what trends in politics and history concern or drive you. Do you want to pursue a career in public administration? Let me know how you want to improve the society you live in working in the post. Are you a political activist or planning to become one? That would be a good story, too. I want to see why you decided to make sense of politics. I will be happy to read your essay when you can apply the concepts we discussed to your life or to political issues of the world that are most intriguing to you. If you fluently use the theory from the course to explain your understanding of politics and political events in your writing, you will likely get the desired grade.
Finally, use the free-form format: introduction, body, and conclusion. If you cite other sources, mention them in the footnotes. Do not use in-text citations. The footnotes are not included in the word count.
