For this assignment, you are to find five academic sources from one or a combination of the following sources: published scientific articles from climate scientists or sociological literature in environmental sociology to examine how scientists are discussing or researching the chosen environmental topic you have been looking at this entire semester. You will then need to construct an annotated bibliography of those five academic sources. How to find peer-reviewed academic articles:
Peer-reviewed (refereed) is a designation given to a publication based on its policy of sending research articles out for review and evaluation by experts in the field before publication. You can find a journal’s peer-reviewed status in the following ways:
- Search for the journal using the eJournals button on the MSL websiteLinks to an external site. or TAMU Libraries websiteLinks to an external site.. If we subscribe to the journal, the information will include if the journal is peer reviewed. It will display under the journal title.
- Publisher’s website. If you know the name of the journal, you can consult the publisher’s website. Peer review information is often in the overview or summary information about the journal, or in the author instructions.
- Ulrich’s Global Serials DirectoryLinks to an external site. is a database of journal information, including peer-review status. The database may be searched by title, topic, or publisher.
NOTE: Not all items published in a peer-reviewed journal are peer-reviewed. Editorials, letters to the editor, and some non-research-based articles may not pass through the peer-review process
