The influence of Social Media’s portrayal of Fitness and Ideal beauty Standards on Emotional Responses about body image

I have attached an example of a research paper, along with three assignments I completed for the final paper. In the annotated bibliography assignment I have included 5 sources, but I would like a few more sources if possible.

“You are asked to develop a final paper of your own choosing, which will allow you to “customize” the course content to address specific areas of interest. I expect you to produce a research paper of approximately 3,000 – 3,500 words. This paper should be a systematic review of the literature on a particular topic, theory, or body of area of research that are related to the course content.

For this paper, I do not want you to simply summarize a bunch of studies about a topic, but rather to conduct a systematic review of the available literature that draws new insights about a media and emotion issue (e.g., emotions motivating stalking behaviors on social media), theory (e.g., evidence for the Mood Management Theory’s applicability to virtual reality), or a combination of the two. The paper should ask a question and feature a systematic effort to answer that question from a review of available research on the topic. In the past, students have utilized this final paper opportunity to work on a topic that they are personally enthusiastic about (e.g., sports fandom: Season-long emotional investment) or that is relevant to their career goals (e.g., How beauty influencers on TikTok affect the emotions and well-being of young women).

You should provide a thorough explanation of where the topic originated (a brief summary of its historical development, and its importance as a media and emotion topic), its current standing in the literature, and what questions need to be answered in future research. So, there are 3 main parts to this: introduction and background of the issue, its current standing in the literature, and what researchers need to address in the future regarding the topic. This last section should include your own critique of the research topic, as well as your own suggestions for what could be done in the future.

You can use as many research articles, including class readings, as your references as possible.

Many of our class readings provide excellent examples that you can follow when writing your own paper.

On the first page, which is called the title page, you must include a title and a 150-word abstract of the paper. You must include a reference section according to the APA 7 format. The paper should be approximately 3,000-3,500 words excluding the title page and the reference section.

***I have attached an example ( Download Final Paper Example.pdf) of what a final paper *may* look like. Although this book chapter is much longer, and more detailed and thorough than what your final paper needs to be, I believe it provides a good example of how your final paper may be structured. Of course, this is just one example. You are free to structure your final paper in ways that you see fit.

This book chapter addresses the central question of whether exposure to meaningful media content contributes to individuals’ well-being. The first five paragraphs of this book chapter (page 80 to the first half of page 81) introduce what this book chapter is about (i.e., the central research topic it addresses) and discusses why it is important to address this research topic (i.e., the significance of this research topic). The section (pages 81-82) titled, “Early Research on Entertainment Motivations Related to Meaningfulness,” briefly mentions some early research in this domain (i.e., the historical development of the research topic).

The sections (pages 82-87) from “Eudaimonic Motivations for Entertainment Consumption” to “Prosocial Outcomes Associated with Meaningful Media Experiences” provide a thorough review of the current literature related to the research topic (i.e., its current standing in the literature), including some basic research on eudaimonic appreciation and prosocial outcomes associated with eudaimonic appreciation.

Based on the review of the current literature, the authors note that little research has directly addressed their research topic. The section (pages. 87-89) titled “Summary and Outlook” talks about what is underexplored in the current literature regarding the research topic and what more can be done to directly examine the research topic (i.e., A critique of the extant research).”
