Case Study Analysis – DUE April 28th -Health Information Technology has advanced the delivery, safety and coordination of patient care for many healthcare systems. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is the governing body for regulations impacting the use and application of health information technology. You will access the ONC website to review several case studies covering a wide variety of EHR applications used to demonstrate Meaningful Use. The case study analysis should incorporate facts from the case study and include your assessment based on what you have learned about the value of EHR systems in healthcare during this course. Several examples are shared at www.healthit.gov/case-studies. For the case study your group will:
1. Select a case study example that demonstrates one of the specific modules of an EHR used in the EHRClinic Assessments. For example, Patient Portals were discussed in CH. 9 Meaningful Use. Another example is the use of diagnosis data (CH. 5) used to better coordinate and manage care.
2. Write a 2–3-page (APA format) analysis of the case study to include:
a. An overview of the business/clinical problem or challenge
b. The approach taken by the practice/business
c. Result of the EHR application and impact on overall patient care or business issue
d. Your assessment of the related EHR implications, patients’ outcomes impact or other relevant assessment.
e. Locate 2-3 references to support your case study assessment
f. Reference page, which does not count towards the page requirement.
