Speak Freely, Whittington and The Coddling of the American Mind, Lukianoff and Haidt

The essays should identify the central arguments in the books and should assess those arguments based on (1) class discussion, (2) claims made in the other books or (3) students own perspective.  Students may address the books however they choose.  For example, you can write separate analytical essays about each book OR compare and contrast essays that address multiple books in one essay.

A papers will illustrate a clear understanding of the arguments in the books; papers will reveal some understanding of the books.  In other words, a paper will make at least a B if it illustrates that a student has made some effort to engage the reading.  C papers will be riddled with enough mistakes to make me question whether a student has actually read the books.  D papers will indicate some work by a student but no engagement with the books, and F papers will indicate very little work and/or plagiarism.

I can send the link to video lectures so that you can write the essay appropriately.
