The role of social media in supporting volunteer work during health crises in Saudi Arabia

Please work on the same Word file with the name 1234567, and use the existing literature review and add the required number of words according to the following notes.

I want to develop the literature review into the research outline. I don’t want to delete what you’ve done, but I want to incorporate and develop the work you will do throughout it.
Here are the notes that must be carefully taken into account. Based on my supervisor’s evaluation.

1.Introduction and Context Setting:
 – Provide an overview of the increasing importance of social media in facilitating volunteerism during health crises.
 – Establish the significance of the topic and its relevance in current times, especially in light of events like the COVID-19 pandemic.
 2. Volunteer Recruitment:
 – Expand on the various strategies and platforms used for recruiting volunteers during health crises.
 – Discuss the effectiveness of social media in reaching a broad audience and attracting volunteers.
 – Strengths: I’ve already highlighted studies like Demiroz and Akbas (2022) and Alqasa & Al Qahtani (2022) that provide empirical evidence of social media’s impact on volunteer recruitment.
 – Weaknesses: Consider including more diverse geographical contexts and types of crises to provide a comprehensive understanding.
 3. Communication and Raising Awareness:
 – Further explore how social media facilitates real-time communication and dissemination of critical information.
 – Highlight the importance of transparency, trust-building, and engagement with communities.
 – Strengths: I’ve mentioned relevant studies such as Houston et al. (2015) and Dredze et al. (2016) that underscore the role of social media in communication during health crises.
 – Weaknesses: You could include more recent studies to ensure up-to-date information and explore potential limitations or challenges in using social media for communication during crises.
 4. Coordination of Volunteering:
 – Discuss the importance of efficient coordination in maximizing the impact of volunteer efforts.
 – Explore how social media platforms facilitate coordination and resource allocation.
– Strengths: I’ve referenced studies like Comfort et al. (2010) and Veil et al. (2011) that support the effectiveness of social media in volunteer coordination.
– Weaknesses: Provide examples of challenges or barriers in coordinating volunteer activities through social media.

5. Mobilisation and Community Engagement:

 – Elaborate on how social media mobilizes volunteers and fosters community engagement.
– Discuss the impact of storytelling, viral campaigns, and user-generated content in mobilizing support.
 – Strengths: I’ve highlighted studies like Palen & Liu (2007) and Bowe et al. (2022) that demonstrate the mobilizing power of social media during crises.
 – Weaknesses: Consider exploring the long-term effects of community engagement through social media beyond immediate crisis response.

6. Theoretical Frameworks:
– Integrate Social Support Theory (SST) and Crisis Communication Theory (CCT) into your review to provide a theoretical foundation.

 – Discuss how these theories enhance our understanding of social media’s role in supporting volunteerism during health crises.
 – Strengths: I’ve introduced relevant theories like SST and CCT, which can enrich the theoretical framework of your review.
 – Weaknesses: Provide more in-depth explanations of how these theories apply specifically to the context of social media and volunteerism during health crises.
 7. Research Gap and Future Directions:
 – Identify gaps in existing literature, such as the need for more comprehensive theoretical integration or empirical studies in specific contexts.
 – Suggest avenues for future research, such as exploring the long-term effects of social media engagement on volunteer motivation and community resilience.
 – Strengths: You’ve acknowledged a research gap in integrating theoretical frameworks into existing studies.
 – Weaknesses: Provide clearer recommendations for future research directions based on identified gaps.
