A study on the implications of travel tax exceptions for CARICOM Nationals travelling within CARICOM countries.

Statement of
the Problem

One of the major factors of inter-Caribbean
travel is the high ticket fares due to heavy travel taxes imposed. A problem
that arises is the lower tourism of Caribbean nationals within the Caribbean. This
is mainly due to the high cost of ticket prices to travel to another Caribbean
country which is comparable to North America and South America. Therefore,
Caribbean nationals do not experience the different cultures and the beauty of
the various Caribbean countries which foreigners enjoy. Lower-income citizens
are restricted to travel domestically due to the affordability of the tickets.
