Annotated Bibliography Instructions:
For each of the Pillars of Joy,” you will have a section of the annotated bibliography with the following:
- A quote from one of the Pillars of Joy that makes a claim about that pillar, i.e. “Compassion brings us more joy by making us aware of our shared humanity” (Abrams xxx).
- The Works Cited citation for the database article you found that provides an experiment on this claim. (The databases provide this citation for you if you know where to look–watch the video below).
- A one-paragraph summary of the article’s experiment and results, including an answer to the question: Does this study validate or invalidate the claim made in The Book of Joy about this pillar and why? Do not plagiarize. Put this information into your own words, so that I know you’ve understood the study. Some basic information can be copied, such as the number of subjects in the study.
- A quote from the database article that supports your conclusion about the scientific validity of the claim. You must use the .pdf version of the article to find the correct page number for the quote. Do not use the date of the article.
For articles with three or more authors, you may use the name of the first author, last name first, then et al.: i.e. (Johnson, Carla, et al. 265).
I’ve done two of the pillars and will provide the file containing them along with the format. I also found a sorce for another one but that can be changed if you find a better one. For the sources please use ones found in the Las Positas Database. If you are unable to access it please contact me so we can figure somthing out..
