The Gordon Rule (a Florida state law) stipulates that you display your writing skills by writing approximately 2000 words for this course (about eight pages excluding the cover and works cited pages). The 2000 words will come from a term paper as described below:

This report should be on the analysis, theory, development, or performance practice of a specific genre/style of music or performer.

You must bring your final draft to the Student Learning Center; they will issue a receipt.

The paper must be well organized with good paragraphs, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

The citation style must be Chicago or MLA.

Written in 12-point, Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins.

The paper includes a cover page with the title of your paper, name, instructor’s name, and course title.

There needs to be at least 5 supporting SCHOLARLY REFERENCES (no Wikipedia, blogs, or non-scholarly sources can be used). At least two print references are to be used.
Format
- MLA, Chicago, or Turabian styles (only one)
- The paper is at least 2000 words. No more than 3500 words
- Type in 12-point font (Times New Roman or Arial). Black ink
- Double-spaced
- No extra spaces between paragraphs
- One-inch margin all around
Sections of the paper
- Title page: title of the paper, class/professor’s information, student’s name, date
- Introduction: make sure to include your thesis statement
- Body: You discuss your main points. Give credit to your sources
- Conclusion: it ties together the main points of the paper
- Works cited page: formatted using MLA or Chicago. Minimum 3-5 scholarly sources
