hrough your readings and additional resources during Weeks 5 and 6 (Chapters 8-10) you have learned about some specific neuropsychological disorders. 
To complete your Main Post please choose one of the disorders covered during Weeks 5 or 6 (neurodevelopmental disorders, childhood traumatic brain injury, or childhood epilepsy) and answer the following questions:
  • What is the clinical picture of the disorder? This would entail a description of the disorder, etiology (how does it occur), comborbidities, neuropathological changes, risk factors for developing the disorder (if any), predictors of recovery, and/or neuropsychological findings (such as psychosocial impact and/or neurobehavioral or functional consequences).
  • What functional impairments might we see in an individual with this disorder? A functional impairment is any major disruption in functioning in a significant area of an individual’s life (social, family, academic, occupational, etc.). An example of a functional impairment might be loss of job. Feel free to describe more than one functional impairment and elaborate on what impact this might have on the individual’s life (or people involved in the individual’s life).
  • Identify appropriate interventions for this disorder (medical, social, family, academic, etc.). What accommodation and/or adaptation in the home and school setting may be useful for parents, teachers, and/or a therapist to be aware of?
  • Provide at least one outside resource (pamphlet, website, professional organization) for parents, teachers, or families with a child with this neuropsychological impairment. How would accessing this resource be helpful? Be sure to upload or provide a link to this resource in your post.
WRITING TIP: To earn maximum points — use case examples, supportive documentation, or salient information from the textbook and/or external credible source. Be sure to cite and reference all sources in all three posts, giving credit to the authors while showing critical thinking beyond opinion. There are several websites “out there” that you may find helpful, but remember that websites are not credible sources. While you can certainly use websites to further bolster claims, websites should not be the only type of source listed. Please respond to two (2) other students in a substantial manner before the deadline who have chose different options (so you will be learning/posting about three topics).
