Health Care Innovation & Improvement Proposal (HIIP) Part 1: Identify a health care delivery system of focus

Students, after completing first week and reading through all week one materials you  will submit a topic of interest through Carmen survey.  Will make comments to confirm that it is a solid topic or make comments to refine and resubmit for confirmation.

Prompt-

In this week’s class, you’ll choose a topic related to health care delivery systems and policy. This topic will serve as the foundation for your Healthcare Innovation & Improvement Proposal (HIIP), which you’ll work on throughout the term. Here’s the process:

1. Topic Selection(2pts): Identify a topic of interest within the realm of health care delivery systems and policy. Think about areas that intrigue you or align with your career aspirations.
2. Brainstorm(2pts): brainstorm the factors that are challenges of your health care topic (think of the concepts that are discussed in lecture, the textbook. Think about the different stakeholders involved such as patients, providers, insurers, and the government.
3. Concept Mapping(3pts): create a concept map that illustrates the relationships between the different factors that contribute to challenges for your health care topic. Use different colors and shapes to represent different types of factors, such as economic, social, and political. Again, issues presented in the book, lecture or from your personal experience.

4. Reflection( 3pts): reflect on what you have learned from the activity. What surprised you from your initial thoughts of the topic? Compare and contrast the current system to what you think it should be (use evidence to support your claims using data from the lecture, textbook. What did you find challenging? What questions do you still have? 
5. Feedback Submission: Submit your chosen topic along with concept map and reflection through the file upload/text upload. You’ll receive feedback on whether your topic needs refinement or if it’s a viable idea to pursue.

Remember, your topic should combine personal interest, career relevance, and societal impact.
