The influence of climate change and food insecurity is
an issue that requires immediate attention and action to ensure the
sustainability of our worldwide agricultural system.
B. Why is
your stance a good one for an argument research essay? (at least 3 sentences)
The effects of climate change and food insecurity are timely and relevant to
our society, and therefore, provides a strong thesis for my argumentative essay.
Agriculture is fundamental to our collective well-being, and its vulnerability
to climate change affects peoples’ health and livelihoods negatively worldwide.
I want to address humanitarian crises, and particularly the lack of access to
food, as supporting details to my thesis. Also, I want to address the impacts
of climate change upon our agriculture system(s). My stance is a great
argumentative one because climate change and food insecurities are collective challenges
that we, worldwide, are facing today.
C. Who might
disagree with your stance and why? (at least 3 sentences)
Several people or individuals might disagree with my
stance. For example, people who disagree with or deny climate change’s impact
on agriculture and food security often reject scientific evidence. Politicians
or policymakers may disagree because they prioritize economic growth and
deregulation.
D. Who do
you imagine your audience will be? (at least 2 sentences)
For this stance, my
audience would be the public, researchers, agricultural industry, farmers, and
policymakers. I believe they would be interested in my stance, because they
actively convey the importance of climate change and how it affects agriculture
and food security. But also, we can all play in shaping a more sustainable
future.

I understand that climate change has a crucial impact
on our planet. Climate change requires immediate attention and action to ensure
the sustainability of our worldwide agricultural system. Global warming,
greenhouse gases and carbon emissions, industrial activities, and countries
such as the United States and China are all contributing factors to climate
change. Due to these problems, farmers and agricultural entities suffer from
hardships. For example, my landlord, who is a farmer here in Italy, states that
over the past four decades, he has experienced climate change firsthand. His land
and crops are becoming less productive with each passing year; even more so, at
an increasing rate, over the past decade. I have also personally witnessed the
stresses of climate change over the past year here on the farms of Northern
Italy. I don’t necessarily understand the policies and regulations that guard,
and hinder, the effects of climate change. I look forward to learning more
about climate change through my upcoming research.
