A 2500-word essay that critiques the research methodology and
methods deployed and analyses the implications of one finding from a chosen research
paper and how the finding could be used to improve your practice (you have been
given a choice of two research articles – YOU MUST CHOOSE ONLY ONE (PLEASE DO NOT CRITIQUE BOTH).
THE CRITICAL APPRAISAL FORM MUST BE COMPLETED AND ATTACHED.
The student will: –
a.
Introduce
the essay and the article you will be critiquing.
b.
Critique
the research methods deployed. This must include the following information

of research (i.e., what methodology and design?)

collection and data analysis

Ethics
and governance

Potential
for bias

Research
Rigour must be considered
Students will
fail section b when the critical appraisal tool is not completed and attached
as an appendix. This is an important element of the assignment – do not forget
it.
c. Identify
ONE finding from your chosen article and analyse how it would apply to your
clinical practice. This discussion requires the use of a range of supporting
evidence.

Identify one finding from the original
research article you have chosen to critique.

This discussion will require 4 research
articles to develop an effective discussion.

Relate the findings from your
discussion to your clinical practice/your discipline.
Students will fail in this section c when less than four research
articles are used to develop critical discussion.
