Looking to generate funding for a technology initiative for the Department of Aviation within the City of Austin, in particular, Austin Airport. For the past few years there have been awards based on the guidelines outlined in the link that has been provided. I have also included the Smart Grant Fact Sheet for review.
Previous awards by departments are located here for FY22 and FY23.

For the Dept of Aviation, I would like to make proposal to incorporate Sensors, Systems Integration, Curb Management (that could include transit innovation would be great), or a under work zone safety initiative that utilized theses systems to monitor ground handler safety while the plane is docked at the gate and being prepared for departure. We have had a few incidents that have made national headlines, and now preventative measures are needed.
What are other airports doing? There have been no SMART grant’s issued to Aviation, and this is a huge opportunity for success. What are DOMESTIC industry best practices that need to be initiated to fit the current state of Aviation for the City Of Austin? This is no small or medium sized airport, but a large airport, so we need to be innovative, and think of ENTERPRISE level solutions..
Airports such as San Diago, Portland, Seattle, LAX, DFW, all have innovative initiatives but are not SMART airports. This proposal should also highlight how other airports are using technology that is nonexistent at Austin Bergstrom Airport, that could increase the passenger experience, and also improve operational efficiency.
What are the current pain points being reported by travelers and how can we best address those issues with the initiative?
