This week you will be learning about the importance of the data
gathering process in interaction design and applying data gathering
methods and techniques to the topic you chose for your Usability Project
in Week 1. As mentioned in our textbook, there are a variety of methods
and techniques that can be used to gather data. This week you will
design a questionnaire with a Likert scale and gather data via email
from a user group composed of at least five people. It is recommended
that you find dependable people (e.g., friends, family, coworkers, etc.)
for your user group in order to meet course deadlines. Using the
supplied questionnaire
Download questionnaire, utilizing a Likert Scale
Download Likert Scale
template, or another of your own design, create the questionnaire you
will send to your user group by constructing 8 to 10 well developed
questions about your chosen topic that can be answered through a Likert
Scale.
In an initial post of a minimum of 250 words,
- Compare and contrast quantitative and qualitative research methods
and techniques, describing the advantages and disadvantages of each. - Provide the topic and revised information based on feedback you
received in your Usability Project – Part One: Usability Topic Selection
Reflection discussion forum from Week 1 at the top of your
questionnaire. - Identify the members of your user group and why it will be useful to gather data from them as part of your Usability Project.
- Explain information you hope to gain from your user group through the questionnaire.
- Attach the questionnaire with the Likert Scale with 8 to 10 questions on it that you will be emailing to your user group.
When preparing your questionnaire for the user group,
- Incorporate the peer and/or instructor feedback you receive for this
discussion before finalizing the questionnaire that you will send to
your user group. - Email your finalized questionnaire to your user group asking for a
two day turnaround. You will combine the feedback from your user group
with the feedback you receive this week from your peers. Both sets of
feedback will inform the development of your prototype in coming weeks
