This is a Critical Literature Review for my final-year Research Project. You must choose a clear Public Health Research Question OR Problem focused on a specific COUNTRY of your choice

                                                     Critical Literature Review:

  • Please do not apply if you have no experience in this field, as this RESEARCH PROJECT is worth 100% of the total marks for this course unit

  • This is a Critical Literature Review for my final-year Research Project. You must choose a clear Public Health Research Question OR Problem focused on a specific COUNTRY of your choice (Refer to the CLR Handbook for more guidelines).

  • What is the Critical Literature Review (CLR)The CLR is an extended critical essay focusing on a Public Health Research Question OR Problem. The CLR will need to incorporate:-

(1) A clear research question/problem within which some of the sub-questions might include, for example:

a. What is the current knowledge gap?

b. What needs to be found out to address the question/problem fully?

(2) A clear structure/method for identifying the evidence. This is not to be confused with a more extensive and detailed Systematic Review (such as a Cochrane-style review).

(3) Detailed critique and summary of the evidence about the original question/problem and what this means about the context/setting.

(4) Discussion/reflection on the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence that has been identified to answer the initial question. This then needs to be considered in terms of the strength of the evidence:-

a. How much confidence can be placed on these findings?

b. What do they mean? How might it differ in different settings/contexts?

(5) What are the implications of what was found / what ought to happen next?

  • Word Count: The upper word limit for the critical literature review is 5000 maximum word limit (penalties apply at 10% over the maximum). The same marking penalties as for a standard course unit assessment will apply

  • Scientific Abstract: The submitted work needs to include a Scientific Abstract. The abstract is to be a maximum of 300 words. This is not included in the main word count of 5000 for the rest of the submitted work.

  • Scientific Report: This is how this Scientific Report should be structured (for more suggestions, see WRITING SCIENTIFIC REPORTS FILE). Introduction, Methods, Results, Analysis & Discussion, Conclusion, References, and Appendices.

  • Using Appendices: Information in the appendices is not marked by the examiner and is not included in the word count. Therefore, whatever you include in the appendices must not form a considerable component of the work to be marked.

  • Referencing: There should be more than 40 sources. The use of referencing will be assessed by the examiners. In this programme, the preferred referencing style is Harvard and should be consistently laid out in Harvard format and include the references at the end of the essay. Students must correctly reference their work. Poor approaches to referencing can suggest academic malpractice

  • When conducting research for your research question, you will need to search multiple databases to find all of the journal articles related to your topic, since each database covers a different journal. These databases were specifically chosen for this subject area: Ovid Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, etc., but the following databases may also be helpful depending on your research question.

  • As a result, I’m searching for a writer with extensive experience, a thorough comprehension of OVID MEDLINE & PICOS, & the ability to CRITICALLY APPRAISE evidence using the CASP TOOL CHECKLIST and back it up with citations and references. It would be great if you could access Ovid Medline from your end with my login details, which I will provide, so that you may access it since it is really important for your RESEARCH QUESTION.

  • This RESEARCH PROJECT will assess your ability to search bibliographic databases in Ovid Medline & others, as well as your critical appraisal skills.

  • You need to apply your critical thinking skills by going beyond just describing what the authors did and focusing on the interpretation and evaluation of what they did within the context of the study

  • The critique only needs to be a short sentence. Try to include as much CRITICAL APPRAISAL as you can throughout the report (within the word limit). Please use the CASP TOOL CHECKLISTShttps://casp-uk.net/casp-tools-checklists/ to help you critically appraise the evidence and data you draw upon.

  • Your search is assessed based on whether it is logical, and reproducible in Ovid Medline and combines appropriate MeSH terms with specific free text search terms and you should justify your choice of terms with all operators used accurately. The decisions made in your search should be justified and search term use explained clearly (See the Ovid Medline & PICOS examples)

  • Your Ovid Medline search bibliographic databases should be accurately reproduced in a Word table. Explaining why any PICOS concepts have not been used, use of both MeSH and free text search terms for concepts included, examples of specific phrases sought with free text truncation/adjacency operators etc.

  • Submit word-processed work as 1.5 or double spacing and number the pages (See CLR Handbook)

  • Please carefully review the CRITICAL LITERATURE REVIEW HANDBOOK for more guidelines and the LEARNING OUTCOMES that will be assessed in this RESEARCH PROJECT

  • Additional documents with critical information regarding this work are also supplied. Please review all of the documents, since most provide examples of Ovid Medline & PICOS, Critical Appraisal, CLR-Webinar, CLR-Q&A, Handbook-Assessment Guidelines, Examples of Previous Student Distinction CLRs and Titles, Finding Bibliography databases, Building a search in Ovid Medline, Writing Scientific Reports, Introduction, Main Body, etc. about this assessment (use the Previous Student Distinction CLRs examples as a guide to help you structure the assignment answer). Also, apply the CASP Tool checklist to critically assess the study.

  • A Marking Rubric file is provided as well to consider while composing the assignment to check if the requirements for this task are met.
