Objective: To develop a deeper understanding of diversity, its significance in various contexts, and its impact on society and individuals.
Instructions (CHOOSE ONLY ONE):
- Research and Reflection (500-700 words):
- Choose one aspect of diversity (e.g., cultural, racial, gender, socioeconomic, disability, LGBTQ+ – Women and Gender; Sexual Orientation; People with Disabilities; Latino Americans; African Americans; Native Americans; South Asian Americans; East Asian Americans; American Jews; and or Arab Americans and Muslims – separate articles are required for Arab Americans and Muslims.
- Conduct thorough research on the chosen aspect, including its history, current issues, and notable figures who have contributed to its recognition and advancement.
- Reflect on how this aspect of diversity impacts society and individuals both positively and negatively.
- Include personal reflections or experiences related to the chosen aspect of diversity.
- Case Study Analysis (500-700 words):
- Identify a real-world case study that illustrates challenges and successes related to diversity.
- Analyze the case study, focusing on how diversity issues were addressed, the outcomes, and lessons learned.
- Discuss the role of different stakeholders (e.g., individuals, communities, organizations) in promoting diversity in the case.
- Creative Expression:
- Create a piece of work that expresses your understanding of diversity. This could be a short story, a poem, a song, or any other creative medium.
- Provide a brief explanation (200-300 words) of how your creation represents diversity and what message you aim to convey through it.
- Action Plan (300-500 words):
- Develop a personal action plan outlining steps you can take to promote diversity in your community, school, or workplace.
- Your action plan should include specific actions, resources you might need, and a timeline for implementation.
Submission Requirements:
- Submit your assignment as a single document (Word document) with the following sections: Research and Reflection, Case Study Analysis, Creative Expression, and Action Plan.
- Ensure proper citations and references for all sources used in your research.
- Include your name, course, and date at the top of the document.
Grading Criteria:
