Time: 5 – 7 minutes. This time range includes any engagement activities you may have with the audience (quiz, asking questions, polls, games, etc.) as well as a final Question and Answer session after your presentation is over. Have fun! Be creative! This engagement will land you more marks.
– Slides: Have as many slides as you need. Just be sure that there is ONE topic/main idea per slide. Slides are FREE, so use as many as you need to keep your presentation focused onthe point you are talking about.
Here is a short video on some tips to use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZzgMIBE81o
– Slide theme: Studies have shown that it is better to have a DARK background (dark blue, black, etc) and white text to avoid too much glare that comes with a white background. Furhtermore, I know several of you like to use Canva for your presentation template. By all means do so, but please be mindful if you chose a theme with a “busy” background. If there is an image on the background of each slide, it can get in the way of reading the text clearly. It is therefore recommended to use a plain background and just add images to the slides.
– Slide text: No more than ONE main idea per slide and no more than 6 words total per slide. That means that if you have more than six words for one main point….add another slide! The only long sentences I want to see on the presentations are: direct quotes (don’t forget to add source information) AND research questions. You can add your complete research questions as well.
– Stucture/Organization: this is clearly up to you. Of course you will need to talk about the problem statement, your research questions, key findings and significance of your research (why it’s important)
