What is the trend? The trend I have chosen to write about is the growing need for family law services, driven by the changing definition of American families/society and increasing legal difficulties.
When did it occur? This trend has been increasing for the last few decades, especially in the last 10-15 years. Changes in societal norms, higher divorce rates, and greater recognition of different family types have all contributed to this increase
What research question will you need your informative report to answer? How can legal systems adapt to better handle the growing need for family law services due to changing family structures and increasingly complex legal issues?
What is your preliminary answer to this research question (this becomes your main point or thesis; it will likely change as you get feedback and research the topic.)? Legal systems can update laws to reflect modern families and society, provide more support for legal representation, and utilize alternative dispute resolution methods to effectively meet the increasing demand for family law services.

Legal experts are aware that families are evolving in ways that create new challenges for the legal system. They understand that divorce and separation rates are rising, and that traditional family law often struggles to address the needs of non-traditional family structures

The audience may need a clear explanation of the specific legal issues occurring in non-traditional families and research on how current laws are ineffective in addressing these problems. Providing examples of recent cases and legislative changes will help define these facts.
What do you currently know or understand about the trend you are writing about that would help you as a writer explain what it is and its relevance to experts in the field? I understand that family structures today are more diverse, which creates unique legal challenges. Existing legal services often don’t effectively address these challenges, so it’s important to review and update family laws thoroughly.
What more will you need to learn about the trend in order to effectively explain what it is and its relevance to experts in the field? I need to study recent changes in the law, examine real-life examples of complicated family issues, and evaluate how well different legal changes work in dealing with these challenges. Finding and analyzing statistics on divorce rates and family law cases will also help me explain in detail.

What will you need to do in Unit 8 to create a draft and then revise and edit your draft to submit for the Unit 8 Assignment?
