Instructions
- This is a professional presentation, designed to inform and “sell” your project proposal from assessment task 2.
- You are to develop a presentation for your target audience, the project sponsor, and the board of directors.
- Your video should have a powerful message that persuades your target audience of the viability of your project and your capability, as a project management team, to execute it effectively.
- Select segments of your written project plan that you consider most relevant to your audience to use in this presentation.
- When developing your video, consider the following:
- Depth of analysis: Are project management tools used, presented well, and appropriately delivered?
- Content approach: a project plan that is delivered well and in alignment with an appropriate direction for the project, be capable of executing the project, and show that its members possess a mastery of project management concepts and tools. (e.g., WBS, risk assessment)
- Does the video content demonstrate knowledge about the project?
- Presentation: Is the project presented clearly and concisely?
- Is your pitch strong and convincing?
- Speak clearly and use appropriate academic and industry language.
- You can create your presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint or Use a PowerPoint free presentation (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko8qCyoZ-Mg)
- Do not use cue cards or similar.
- Ensure that when you are presenting, you are discussing what is on the screen.
- Transitions between scenes should be effective and smooth.
What information should the team present in the video?
Given the five-minute time limit (and thus the need to be selective about what information should be presented) and to allow some room for creativity, I do not intend to prescribe a structure for the presentation. However, at a minimum, the team should concisely and clearly present essential information that is specific to the following elements:
- Introduction (e.g., the purpose of the presentation, a quick introduction of the team members). I suggest the introduction be part of a title page that contains such information as the project title and team member names (and their pictures, if feasible) so that I can recognise and give marks to individual presenters.
- Project purpose and justification
- Project output, outcomes, and benefits
- Project scope
- Project schedule
- Project cost
- Project risk
- Conclusion (e.g., thank you to the audience for listening to the presentation)
