Module Three: Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, and
Risk Reduction Framework
Introduction
We now live in a borderless society, meaning geographic
boundaries no longer exist in the same way boundaries may have been defined
during your grandparents or great grandparents’ lives. The U.S. Department of
Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported that as of
August, 2021, 66.0 million passengers traveled by air (Bureau of Transportation
Statistics, 2021).
Many factors such as social, economic, personal behavior
and environment can influence the health status of a population. These
factors are often referred to as ‘determinants of health’, which can contribute
to health disparities and the global burden of disease. Healthy People 2030, a
document you may be familiar with, was developed to address these and other
factors with the goal of helping people to achieve a higher quality of
life and longer life spans free of preventable diseases. Based on three levels
of prevention, primary, secondary, and tertiary, community/public health nurses
address Healthy People 2030 objectives by working with community members and
others to develop programs to help reach these goals.

Hello Class, there is an error in the instructions for
Assignment 2, Module 3:
- Listen
to Windshield Survey Guidelines and Tips. - Review
all requirements in the left-hand column of the Rubric below. - Click
on the Enter Sentinel City link on the course homepage and continue your
Virtual Experience by taking a bus tour of Sentinel City. Since this is
your second tour, feel free to choose any bus speed and/or get off the bus

#4 Should be: Click on the Enter Sentinel Town (rural
community) . . . continue your Virtual Experience by taking a tour of Sentinel
Town – there is no bus in the rural community.
I am working with IT to get this corrected. Sorry for any
confusion this may have caused for students who already have submitted
Assignment 2.
