Write a brief essay based upon a recent article related to one of the topics covered in this week’s reading.

Each essay will have two parts:  a summary and an evaluation.  The summary will reproduce the basic argument of the original piece in miniature.  While the summary must be intelligible to a reader who has not read the original, it will also serve as a reference for you later in the course when the details of the reading may have begun to fade from your mind.

The second part will focus on your evaluation of the author’s claims. How do the author’s arguments coincide (or not) with points made by other course authors?  What questions or concerns does the piece raise?  In particular, consider the social, political, and/or economic implications.

Your essay should be 3-4 pages.  Introductions, conclusions, cover pages, and abstracts are not necessary for this assignment, but be sure to include the APA-formatted reference of the original article and accurately document all quotations and paraphrases using in-text citations.
