To complete this week’s work with verbs, please use the links regarding verbs that you’ll find in your grammar/mechanics study guide in Modules.

I’d like you to have a clear understanding of:

  1. the difference between action verbs and “to be” (or “linking”) verbs
  2. the difference between helping and “to be” (or “linking”) verbs
  3. the difference between active voice and passive voice.

Verbs carry the energy of a sentence. While you certainly don’t have to write every sentence with an action verb, nor every sentence in active voice, the more active your writing sounds, the stronger, the more confident, and the more persuasive.

  1. three sentences (Be creative.) using action verbs,
  2. three sentences using “to be” verbs,
  3. three sentences using helping verbs,
  4. three sentences using active voice, and
  5. three sentences using passive voice.
