The Most Pressing National Security Threat Facing the U.S.: The Rise of China as a Peer State

The point is that the number of potential security threats the U.S. confronts is essentially too numerous to count and it is difficult to counter arguments as to which is most important. Four US National Security Strategies are identified which you can read for an idea of what to do, one in 2002 under George W. Bush, 2015 under Barrack Obama, 2017 under Donald Trump, and most recently by Joseph Biden’s National Security Strategy in 2022, Links to an external site.go to http://nssarchive.us/Links to an external site. to access. After reading these, you are being given the opportunity “ in light of present events, what do you consider the most pressing national security threat that currently confronts the United States: terrorism in the aftermath of Afghanistan; climate change; the ongoing war in the Ukraine, or the rise of China as a peer state.” Once you have identified your choice with evidence supporting your selection. What policies should the United States adopt or which changes should occur. remember you must articulate what factors raise this threat above the others . are some threats temporary and passing or are they existential in nature? The presidential security strategies are provided to help guide your analysis as to the nature of the threat but remember each strategy was written at a particular point in time and reflects those concerns. You are to provide at least five references for your analysis (modules can be used if applicable but do not count as a reference) which must be at least 1200 words in length, formatting of references must follow format set out on the course homepage.
