Article for Analysis- A3 A Governance as Leadership – Reframing the Work of Non Profit Board

ANALYSIS OF
RESEARCH ARTICLES IN CRITICAL THINKING

There will be a
total of five (5) critique/analysis papers turned in and presented in classes
2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 by individuals.  NOTE:  Your analyses should
be cogent and succinct, but should cover the topic thoroughly, so there is no
“minimum/maximum” page length – a guideline is approximately 3-5 pages, plus
cover sheet and reference page.  Each
article will be sent to your OLLU email account at the conclusion Class 1.

Student analyses
will be evaluated by the following:

1.    Analysis:
 how well has the student demonstrated mastery
of the following elements identified in Bloom’s Taxonomy:

·        
Recollection
of facts and basic concepts of critical thinking such as ethos, pathos, and
logos, persuasion, credibility, claim, issue, conclusion, etc.

·        
Demonstration
of the understanding of these fundamental critical thinking ideas or concepts
through discussion of the article through explanation, discussion,
identification, translation, etc. of the article’s author’s use of these
concepts.

·        
Application
of this information to these articles through clear identification of how the
author implemented these concepts, solved problems, interpreted evidence, etc.

·        
Analysis
of these articles by drawing connections among these ideas and concepts, both
through the author’s work and by the student’s analysis

·        
Evaluation
of the concepts identified by judging evidence and credibility, defending and
supporting claims, etc.

·        
Creation
of a new or original work by the student as an analysis of each of these
articles

2.    Carefully analyze the article (not a simple “review”), by identifying the following:

·        
What
issue is the article author raising?  Put
this in a question form.

·        
What
conclusion is the article author offering?

·        
What
supporting reasons and evidence is the article author providing?

3.    Create your original work by including
(at a minimum) the following guideline –  there may be multiple authors, multiple
issues, and multiple conclusions – and use APA format.

4.    Use APA format and scholarly writing

5.    Writing will be professional, error free,
and grammatically correct

6.    Analysis of article will be presented to
the class in an informative, concise, professional manner
