Backstory: Thursdays are designated as Ortho days. On
Thursdays, patients show up at the last minute to have their pictures taken
before seeing the physician. As a result, patients’ wait times and appointments
are being delayed. Many patients express dissatisfaction over not receiving an
alert or are unaware they are receiving images. To help the radiology and
orthopedic clinics raise the standard of patient care, research on the subject
aims to pinpoint the gap between patients and the scheduling department and
offer various solutions.
1.
It seems like there is a workflow issue.
There could be several issues at play here: the patient is not told to arrive
on time, there is not enough staffing, etc. It seems like a root cause analysis
could be done on this.
Question the instructor asked:
Do you do patient satisfaction surveys and is this
something that they mention on those? (Just for tracking later since it’s
already in place). I know they are personally complaining to the staff.
Answer: patients can visit or call our Patient Experience Department and also can use my chart to submit surveys.
Beginner’s Introduction:
Smooth workflow is expected in hospital environments. When departments
collaborate, they should provide patient care that meets mutual standards. It
is crucial that patients, doctors, and other staff members are satisfied.
Orthopedic appointments are held on Thursdays at Christian Hospital.
Before seeing their physician, patients are typically expected to have
diagnostic imaging performed.
On the other hand, many patients usually claim
they forget to take pictures or are unaware that they should. Longer wait times
for patients with X-rays or no appointments result from this issue. In
addition, patients’ inability to keep their scheduled orthopedic appointments
is delaying their visits for other appointments, such as those for broken
extremities. To meet the satisfaction expectations of patients, physicians, and
staff, this paper will address the significance of workflow quality and
maintaining a steady workflow. It will utilize reliable sources to learn more
and identify the issue.
