  • Structure:  
    • Title Slide: Title of the DNP Project, the presenter’s name, department, course number, and date of proposal (1 slide).
    • DNP Committee Members: Include the names of the DNP Faculty Chair and DNP Committee Members. Presenters should speak briefly about the contributions of each to the success of the work (1 slide).
    • Proposal Outline: The committee needs to know what you will be presenting (1-2 slides).
      Introduction/Overview of the Problem: Provide a succinct introduction of your project topic and project itself (1 slide).
    • Background and Gap at the Project Site: Provide a review of information on why the problem is of pressing societal concern or theoretical interest and summarize what is known about the problem being investigated (2-3 slides).
    • Problem Statement: The problem statement succinctly and clearly presents the nursing practice problem under investigation.  This portion of the presentation should demonstrate that the project is feasible, appropriate, and worthwhile. Your problem statement should include the following items: 1) a description of the nature and context of the problem, 2) the impact of the problem on patients, populations, or societies; and 3) the consequences of not fixing the problem (2-3 slides).
    • Purpose of the Project: Present a declarative statement: “The purpose of this practice change/evidence-based practice project is…” The purpose includes a description of the target population and the general geographic location of the study. The nature of the quality improvement should also be addressed (1 slide).
    • PICO Question: The target patient population, intervention, pre-intervention comparison, and measurable clinical outcome should be addressed (1 slide).
    • Theoretical Framework: A diagram or schematic of the nursing or borrowed theory/framework should be presented. Discuss the theory/framework leading the project/intervention. This theory needs to align with the project (1- 2 slides).
    • Change Model: Discuss the Change/EBP model that will guide and direct proposed changes and achievement of project outcomes (1 slide).
    • Overview of the Evidence: Provide a summary of the body of evidence findings to support your project implementation from start to finish. For example, include how the literature review was conducted, themes, and synthesis of the evidence that supports the DNP Project (1-2 slides).
    • Project Design: This section of the presentation will explain the appropriateness of the design to achieve the desired outcomes and explain the methods used in the DNP quality improvement project (2-3 slides). The following items should be discussed:
      • Steps for implementation
      • Instrumentation (if applicable)
    • Data: (1-2 slides)
      • Data collection (if applicable) – describe the who, what, when, where, and how of the process
      • Data analysis method (if applicable)
      • Data management methods – step-by-step plan to secure, store, and destroy data
    • Potential Barriers (1 slide, if applicable).
    • Ethical Considerations (1 slide).
    • DNP Essentials: Provide the applicable DNP Essentials that will be met for the proposed project. Include in speaker notes specifically how each will be met (1 slide).  
    • Summary (1 slide).
    • Questions/Discussion (1 slide).
  • References: All slides and references need to be in proper APA format.
