Summative Assessment: Change Model Theories and Professional Learning Presentation

Exam Content

  1. Models of professional development offer a structured framework for continuous learning, encompassing personalized pathways that adapt to educators’ needs and evolving classroom demands. By mastering these interconnected subjects, teacher leaders gain the capacity to drive positive change, foster their own growth, and lead students toward a more impactful and innovative learning journey.

For this assessment, assume that you are delivering a presentation to your school’s leadership team that outlines different models for how adults change their thinking and practice.

To prepare for this assessment, research the following theoretical approaches to change:

    • Michael Fullan’s Triple I Model
    • Everett Rogers’s diffusion of innovations
    • McKinsey’s 7-s model
    • Concerns-based adoption model (CBAM)

Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation using the Change Model Theories and Professional Learning Presentation Template to apply adult learning theory and principles to the implementation of professional development and learning networks.

Include either detailed speaker notes or an audio voice-over for each slide of your presentation. Refer to “Record a Presentation” for tips on how to record audio in your presentation.

The presentation template contains slides that correspond with the change models and topic below. You can add additional slides, as needed.

    • Michael Fullan’s Triple I Model
    • Everett Rogers’s diffusion of innovations
    • McKinsey’s 7-s model
    • Concerns-based adoption model (CBAM)
    • Professional change experience example

Follow the instructions below for each change theory in the template:

    • Describe the change model, including:
    • The model’s background and individuals responsible for its creation
    • Explanation of the model’s supporting theory
    • Describe the key stages of the change model
    • Explain an appropriate application of the change model and theory to educator professional development

Follow the instructions below to address your professional change experience example in the template:

    • Describe the professional change experience and identify a change model and theory that aligns with the experience.
    • Create a graphic representation of the alignment between your professional change experience and the change model and theory.
    • Describe how the change experience impacted the following:
    • Your teaching practice
    • Your students
    • Other stakeholders
    • Explain how learning networks played a role in your professional change experience; if they did not play a role, describe how they might have influenced your practices.

Cite sources to support your presentation and format citations and references according to APA guidelines.

Submit your Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with either detailed speaker notes or recorded audio voice-over for your assessment.
