Make sure you use the section headers (listed below) within your critical analysis write-up.
Introduction (5pts total)
- state the title of the work, the author’s name and the date of publication
- outline main ideas of the article and identify/discuss the author’s thesis (3.5 pts)
- state your own thesis statement and your main idea about the work (what does it bring forth) (1.5 pts)
i.e., This book is about… The author argues that… The setting is… The research was… The main character… The main points are… The theme is… The authors conclude…
Analysis: (8pts)
- critically state what you like and do not like about the article (2 pts)
- explain your ideas with specific examples/cases and provide evidence to support your assertions – evidence must reflect data, specific policies, and/or current events (specific) occurring in the world today. (4 pts)
- assess in detail whether the author has achieved their intended goal and how (1 pt)
- discuss how the reading enhances our understanding of module’s theme and to the complex intricacies of globalization (discussing both local scenarios and wider global ramifications) (1 pt)
- Note: the analysis must look at whether the work is
- focused, understandable, persuasive, clear, informative
- directed at the appropriate audience, meeting the purpose
- well researched, with appropriate conclusions, and more
Conclusion (2 pts)
- restate your thesis in new words
- summarize your main ideas about the reading with new and stronger words (1 pt)
- include a call for future research on the module theme (1 pt)
Write-up: Font size shall be 12pt Times New Roman single-spaced. In-text citations and a reference page are required.
