Once this semester you will be responsible for bringing an article from the popular press to present to the rest of the class. The article should outline an instance of the concept at the center of the readings assigned on that day. The article you present should be a point of departure that enables you to introduce the topics we plan to cover in class. Thus, if the topic of the day is “Masculinity,” your article should discuss an instance of masculinity as a barrier or facilitator of community in a leisure- or recreation-related context. This is your opportunity to look for ways to observe what we discuss in class “in the real world.” To do this, you will take 5-10 minutes to explain your case study and turn in a one-page (single spaced) summary. In this summary, you will include a list of the sources you used to learn about the case you chose. Good sources for this assignment are articles from reputable, popular news publications. Use as many sources as you like, but you must use a minimum of one. Please see the instructor if you have any questions about the assignment.
