Now that we have completed all course assignments, it is time to take a breath and evaluate how these DEI and Belonging experiences have influenced us.
As we evaluate the value proposition for why DEI and Belonging are critical for leading a successful organization, we also need to emphasize the “Why?” questions: Why should we be concerned about the marginalized individual, the outsider, the neglected individuals in our organizations? Why should we go out of our way to consider the welfare of underrepresented employees within our care? Why are we called to sacrifice our resources of time, money, and relationships to serve those who are less privileged than ourselves? The Luke 10:25-37 passage provides a clear example of how we can display God’s love to those neglected and distressed co-workers. Why should you care about others at your organization?
Let us engage in this discussion forum as a space to share what we have learned, what we will take away from this class, and the ways we have struggled with a few controversial topics. How does this awareness change us personally? How does this knowledge change us as emerging leaders?
Use the video recording tool, audio response, or writing option in the discussion post, and address the following:
Share your discoveries, stories, and feelings with your colleagues over the past eight weeks.
How have you grown in the last eight weeks regarding DEI and Belonging?
What did you learn specifically, and how will you implement these findings in your professional (and perhaps personal) life?
In the Luke 10 passage, who do you identify with? Why do you say that? What does this passage encourage you to do as an inclusive leader within your workplace?
