INSTRUCTIONS-
Adding an educational aspect as a reform to the SUPPORT Act will cause some intended and unintended consequences. Some intended consequences will be to increase the diversity in the educational system, with both students and teaching professionals. One unintended consequence would be that federal income tax would increase for the population across the board to be able to fund these programs. According to studies, the benefits of free college include greater educational access for underserved students, however it would also cost on average 67% of what federal tax dollars pay for now (Yin, 2011). Reform opponents have a different view of the system. To them, the century-old system is proven, basically sound, and could rise again to serve America well, if only Americans would fund it substantially more generously (Dahill-Brown et al, 2016).
