In this assignment you will identify and discuss casual loops from your initial group casual analysis and data driven models.
Step 1: Using your data model each group member will chose a node for further analysis.
Step 2: Identify one balancing loop and one reinforcing loop (group members may repeat loops). Draw each of the loops identifying the direction (+/-) relationship between elements.
Step 3: Write a short report.
Introduction:
- Write 1-2 paragraphs introducing the group topic and a summary of the main causal nodes identified.
Loop description ( one each for balancing loop and for reinforcing loop)
- Draw or paste the image of the loop you describe. Is it a balancing or a reinforcing loop? Explain your reasoning.
- Describe how each element within the loop relates to each other
- Describe what sources you used to determine the relationship between elements. For example was it from reading reports, published research or through common sense suppositions.
Discussion
- In 3-4 paragraphs answer the following questions:
- What are the advantages of using a systems approach for your group health issue?
- What are the main challenges of applying a systems thinking approach to your chosen health issue?
- At what point in the Public health process that goes from understanding an issue to preparing programming to implementing interventions would you suggest using the causal loop diagram? Explain your reasoning.
