Ethics Chapter 9 – Research & Analysis Companies that have an Effective Ethics Program

BUSI 385 Chapter 9 Research and Analysis Paper DUE FRIDAY

Companies that have Effective Ethics programs

Effective Ethics programs are designed to foster ethical decision making in business and are being embraced by most firms today. Ethics programs have to be well designed and effective to pre-vent major misconduct. Some business leaders believe ethics initiatives should arise naturally from a company’s corporate culture and that simply hiring good employees will limit unethical conduct. Moreover, business executives and board members often do not understand how organizational ethics can be systematically implemented. In business, many ethical issues are complex and require organizations to reach a consensus on appropriate action. The more misconduct occurs at a company, the less trust employees feel toward the organization—and the greater the turnover will likely be.

A company must have an effective ethics program to ensure that all employees understand its values and comply with the policies and codes of conduct that create its ethical culture. Managers cannot assume that employees will automatically know how to behave when entering a new organization (Ferrell, O.C., Fraedrich, J., & Ferrell, L. (2022).
