Today, over 300,000 people serve in health administration, from middle management to CEO positions — at organizations of only one or two staff members to major international companies employing hundreds of thousands of employees.
Health administrators are either specialists or generalists. Specialists head up specific clinical departments or services, while generalists manage (or help to manage) entire facilities or systems.
Training in health care administration can prepare you for leadership positions in a variety of medical settings. If you possess strong managerial skills and pay attention to details, you might want to consider a career in health care administration. Read on to explore the options in this field.
Inside Health Care Administration
Health care administrators manage the day-to-day business dealings of medical facilities, such as private practices, nursing homes and hospitals. They are responsible for keeping all medical and clerical activities running smoothly so that doctors and nurses can focus on treating patients. Health care administration tasks often include managing billing and collections, making personnel decisions and training staff. In larger hospital settings, administrators usually have more specialized responsibilities.

Education Information
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), those who are interested in a health care administration career usually must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in health care administration or management (www.bls.gov). Most individuals, however, earn a master’s degree in business administration, public health or a related subject. Health care administrators must not only have detailed medical knowledge, but they must also have strong business and communication skills.
Every medical facility typically needs a health care administrator to help ensure its efficiency and productivity. The different career options are as varied as the specialties in the medical field. Please review in DETAIL (definitions, descriptions, responsibilities, position titles, opportunities for growth, salary, statistics, etc..) an area(s) of health administration/management or health fields you want as a career that you find interesting or what you may want to do one day as a health professional career. The range of jobs is vast so even think outside the box! This project should be a minimum of 10-15 power point slides for narrative not including a Title page or the Reference page) in length. All students should respond to at least two post for full assignment credit. Complete APA format and replies apply to full credit grade.
Again, this may be long range career choices but, I will accept your report to focus on the career areas that you want to work in even if outside of these health care topics as posted above. Be sure to include detailed and specifics and statistics were applicable, including resources and citations.
