i have written a research proposal and had a presentation skit to what im writting in the final paper. i will provide both documents below.
You are on the right track, and your next steps will involve clarifying and narrowing your focus. Here are some suggestions for refining your project:
As you point out, there is a lot of literature on movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo. Here I would invite you to focus your research questions – what precisely would you like to consider about these movements? The proposal doesn’t really address the social/political purposes of these movements, and that seems significant here. The countries you’ve selected sound very interesting – did those countries each have significant political ‘watershed’ moments involving these movements? As you keep working, see if you can clarify what you’ll be specifically focusing on – do any particular frameworks, themes, motifs to compare/contrast, etc emerge?
On this, don’t feel like you need to cover ‘everything’ about these complex topics – keeping focused and working with a limited amount of variables will result in more nuanced analysis, and it will likely feel more rewarding to focus on what feels important, pressing, interesting or unique to you. This aspect of positionality – of considering what situates you as an individual and an academic and what draws you to these issues – may be a helpful factor here.
Finally, remember to include a working title!
You have a rich starting point, and from here in, it is about continuing to refine the scope of the project – focus on what interests you. There’s a number of great ways this could develop, and I’m excited to see where you take it!”
