In this 2500 word essay, you will be building on the research proposal/literature review that you submitted earlier in the semester. This means you should have a clear research question (even if it has changed since your original proposal), and you should be able to briefly explain in the opening paragraph why this is an important and open question, with reference to existing literature. The bulk of the essay should be dedicated to explaining what research you have done to answer the question, and what answers you have come up with.
Please explain how you did your research: what data you obtained, how you obtained it, and how you analysed it. You should explain this at enough length (500-1000 words) that the marker has a very clear idea of exactly how you reached your answers. Be as transparent as possible: be scrupulous about including things like sample sizes (if using survey research), the date ranges of your data, and where data is missing.
When you are describing your answers or results, feel free to use graphs, tables or other visual content–I strongly recommend this, especially if you are using quantitative data. Think about all the articles you have read this semester–how did they present their findings successfully?
I strongly suggest using subheadings to structure this essay. Something along the lines of:
Introduction
Data and methods
Findings
Conclusion
– I have provided the research proposal in the document below
– Here is the tutors comment on the research proposal ” Thanks for this research proposal. Overall, you’ve done a really good job. I especially liked the way you broke down Latino voting patterns in recent presidential elections. Just a couple of things to consider. First, you’ll have to be a bit more specific in terms of what parts of the economic agenda of Trump Latinos found appealing – general management of the economy, job growth, tax cuts etc. Perceptions might not square with the reality of Trump era policies, but the question will certainly yield valuable insights into the Latino worldview. Second, what role does religion play in the Latino community and voting patterns? Overall, I would have liked a bit more engagement with the secondary literature on what has been said about the Latino community previously, then you explain how you will build on this. This was a bit underdone. Finally, the regression analysis seems well suited to this project. You explained it well in the first couple of paragraphs, but I would have liked you to elaborate a bit more when discussing the multiple regression analysis. Be careful in taking on too much here and be clear in terms of what the dependent and independent variables are. Still, you seem well advanced in your planning. I look forward to reading the finished product. ” please take his words into consideration when writing the research paper.
