So I am writing a thesis project on “Understanding the Gaps of Physical
Activity Barriers and Facilitators Across Diverse Populations” I completed chapter one of the paper draft and now moving on to the next section. In the next portion I need to address these specific iinstructions is order: 

Your next step is to move on to the ‘critical thinking’ / ‘argument’ section. Here is some help/suggestions:

  1. You should have an opening paragraph – in this paragraph, reiterate that there are different components of health, among with physical fitness is one. Then explain that there are five components to physical fitness that determine the overall fitness level of an individual. Then go onto to explain that physical activity allows for individuals to improve their overall physical fitness. Next sentence – the barriers and facilitators among immigrants is multi-faceted and from the review of literature has been shown to limit the ability of this unique population to perform physical activity. Then indicate that the goal of this section will be to provide suggestions as to what can be done to remove barriers and add facilitators.
  2. Then have a few paragraphs on the main factors that are barriers and your suggestions/arguments on how to remove them.
    1. One reoccurring barrier among the research examined in this thesis was culture – give a sentence or two about what this means, then provide a suggestion/argument as to how this can be alleviated

                                                                              i.        Alleviation suggestions – governments can provide funding to ethnic groups to start up culturally sensitive activity groups – then provide an example (e.g. have a soccer league for Hispanic male adults) – argue that this does not require a large amount of funding / another example – towns can set up a walking outings or information sessions on physical fitness and/or physical activity for Muslim women.

    1. Another barrier is access to facilities – explain in a sentence or two what the issues is then again provide a suggestions/argument on how this can be alleviated

                                                                              i.        Example – the YMCA does provide reduced costs for memberships to their facilities based on annual incomes – but not easily accessible

      1. Think of other ways – perhaps open school gyms for after-school programs (including adults)
    1. Perhaps think of one more barrier
  1. Then start with facilitators – e.g. – funds towards PE programs in low socioeconomic areas / have parents participate somehow (you think about this) / think about ways to facilitate the urban (suburban) environments – e.g. set in place a law that requires low-income housing projects to have education programs/playgrounds/exercise areas for their renters
  2. Have an overall concluding paragraph – make sure that in your main sections and in this concluding paragraph, you indicate that there does not need to be a large amount of funding ‘thrown’ at the issue (because saying if we had money is an easy answer).

So, write this section – make sure to add the odd reference, but this is more your (critical thinking) piece, so it does not need the same amount of references as your Barriers to Physical Activity section.

Don’t hesitate to use SUB-headings for this section to make clear what you are discussing in each section.

You can include a statistics about cardiovascular diseases being a leading cause of death.
