The goal of this assignment is to begin to gather a list of possible sources for your paper. Although you only will need to use eight sources in your final paper, it helps to have more as you start.
As you write drafts of the different sections of your paper, you will likely need to add additional sources. This assignment, however ensures that there are enough sources for your topic choice.
This is your chance to change your topic.
TO DO:
1. RESEARCH your topic for the Research Project
- RESEARCH your topic using the EMCC Library’s databases, e-books and other reliable resources
- WORK WITH EMCC Librarians as you begin developing your research approach
- CHECK to make sure that you are finding enough sources for your paper
- If your topic doesn’t seem to have enough sources, you should work with the librarians (through 24/7 Chat with a Librarian) to see if you can find more sources
- You can change your topic at this point if you need to
2. BUILD a list of at least 12 possible sourcesfor your Research Topic. As you search, make sure you have at least one source for each of the following areas:
- History/Background on your topic
- Current information/ today’s outlook on your topic
- Two sides of an argument (pro/con) on a debatable question related to your topic
- For each source, briefly explain what part(s) of your paper you think it will be helpful for and how it meets the criteria for being a reliable source. This is similar to what you did for your source in M3.4
- Create the APA Reference Entry and include the URL for each source to be sure that you can find each source again. Make sure you are using the link to the article, and not just to the database.
3. SUBMIT your document
TIPS/Checklist:
