MSB 730 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – RESEARCH TERM PAPER
-
A term paper on a specific Human Resource Management topic is REQUIRED for this course.
-
The paper is to be posted as a Word Document attachment in the Term Paper Forum on Blackboard
-
The paper is due on December 2, 2024. Unauthorized late submissions will not be accepted.
o If a late submission is accepted, it will be subject to lateness penalties (see syllabus).
-
The term paper should not be treated as a creative writing assignment, however, as a research paper that focuses on a “Human
Resource Management” topic. Thus, your emphasis should be on facts, information, and evidence, which involves managing
human talent.
-
To successfully complete the assignment, conduct research on the topic, and report on your findings. In so doing, include
key points from your textbook. Do not use your textbook as your only source of information. Provide an analysis of the
subject matter where necessary, make HR-related recommendations, etc. Also, be reminded to cite/reference your sources.
-
The term paper must include an Executive Summary of issues which pertain to the topic and concepts expressed in your
textbook. Note: Executive summaries are to be placed at the beginning of the term paper.
-
I am looking for your analysis of the research findings and am interested in your demonstrating what you have learned rather
than your repeating information found on the internet. All paraphrases or quotations must be accompanied by in-paragraph citations and a bibliography/reference list. Quoted and paraphrased material are to be used sparingly. See syllabus for guidelines on the use of quoted material. Avoid “over–quoting” or excessive use of others’ material with quotation marks around it. Use your own words!
-
No more than 15% of this Term paper, can be generated by Generative AI like ChatGPT, etc. To achieve this, copy AI output into Word, turn on Track, modify no less than 85% of the AI-generated text, add references from the course, and cite your sources. See syllabus for more reminders.
-
All responses to the term paper requirements are to be written thoroughly with complete sentences and appropriate English mechanics. Do not use bullet points, numbered or itemized lists, graphs, charts, or pictures! Express thoughts clearly in paragraph format. Be descriptive, and provide details and thorough explanations.
-
Pay attention to grammar, spelling, syntax, organization of thoughts, etc. as failure to do so will adversely affect your grade.
-
The term paper must include a cover, must be typewritten, and where appropriate, must contain reference sources, endnotes,
and a bibliography. (References, bibliographies, etc. are separate and do not count toward your page requirements)
-
The term paper must have a minimum of 6 full pages, and a maximum of 7 pages in length, be double spaced (multiple
spaces between lines will adversely affect the grade of your paper), have 11-12” font (larger fonts will adversely affect your
grade), and must have appropriate margins. Again, the bibliography page does not count as a part of the 6-7 page paper.
-
A list of approved topics is provided below. Topics must be cleared with me first. To do so, students must submit a
request in the assigned forum on Blackboard no later than November 4th. Once approved, students may begin working on
the assignment. Failure to clear a topic will result in significant point deductions up to my not accepting the paper.
-
Again, the term paper is MANDATORY and must be submitted on the due date.
