Each student will be required
to develop an oral presentation (supported by speaking aids such as a
PowerPoint presentation, chart, pictures, etc. if desired) which will be
presented to the class on a topic of your choice, but one that relates to the
weekly required reading/presentation for the week you will be presenting. You
may refer to notes during your presentation; however, it is expected that your
presentation is on a topic that you know and care about, so it should be an
oral presentation of your ideas, and not simply a reading from prepared notes.
Students will analyze events
that are taking place in the homeland security/law enforcement and/or security
communities. Each case study will provide:
1) a brief summary of an
approved transnational threat related topic
2) identify the key principles
behind the issue(s)
3) explain the positives and
negatives of the key principles
4) provide critical analysis,
5) suggest application to
course concepts
6) describe lessons learned
that apply to your career (if applicable).
The analysis should be
supported by academic information and research.
Case studies will be presented to the class during an assigned Webex
session and be between 10-15 minutes in duration.
SPECIAL NOTES:
1.
Please use some not all the information
included in the attached files.
2.
Additionally, in reference to point 6) above, I wish
to incorporate my current career in Federal Law Enforcement with the Department
of the Treasury and the Department of Justice; in conjunction with my 15 years
of military service. This includes 4 years of active duty with the elite
Maritime Safety & Security Teams (MSST), which are part of the United
States Coast Guard Deployable Specialized Forces (DSF).
