Product Developers use data to guide their recommendations or new products–data about what your target customers like and what would appeal to their values and lifestyle. They look at historical sell-through data, current selling data, and data on what’s selling at the aspirational price point retailers. Product Developers must look at the data and apply it to their future lines, while also staying within the brand’s image and applying the important elements of the brand to their new products to keep the brand cohesive.
NOW read the feedback and do know that in line development, you received feedback based on the following:
- Each design was reviewed evaluated carefully based on the needs of the business
- Those that do not meet the criteria established by the product development team are weeded out
- The team settles on an assortment of product ideas that they believe will be most successful in the marketplace
- Once approved, it is sent forward to technical design
- Lines are developed either as items or as a group

There are many ways your line sheet can look, but all styles should be lined up at the shooulders (tops) or waists (bottoms) and all should be same proportion. Also – very importantly your should be formatted professionally to look amazing in your PD portfolio and have the same vibe as the rest of your book and work so far!
All of the products in your new line and all the information above should be on a single page.
