  • 1.    For this assignment, each group will engage in research activity and submit APA format word document and PowerPoint Presentation format that summarize the engagement of cultural diversity.

  • 2.    This assignment asks students to introduce an audience of novel readers and researchers using their scholarly works pertaining to Equity, Social Justice and Health Disparities caused by COVID 19 pandemic affecting the targeted under-resourced ethnic group in the United States and globally.

  • 3.    Specifically, students’ research will cover 4 key areas pertaining to COVID 19 namely:

  • a)    History and content

  • b)    Culture and environment

  • c)    Health Disparities

  • d)    Leadership and skills development

  • I.  APA format Research paper should include the following content:

  • ·         Introduction:

  • o Discuss at least 6 specific facts about COVID 19 adversely affecting the minority ethnic groups utilizing current available statistical data suggesting a disproportionate burden of illness and death among racial and ethnic minority groups.

  • o Identify factors that influence racial and ethnic minority group health in terms of social and economic conditions during public health emergencies as to:

  • 1. Living conditions promoting spread of the COVID19 infection i.e. distance from essential services- medical facilities, grocery stores; effect on multi-generational households and congregate living such jails, prison, detention centers

  • 2. Work circumstances- essential and critical workers who continue to work outside home despite outbreaks in their communities, lack of sick leave, etc.

  • 3. Underlying health conditions and lower access to care as to:

  • a. lack of insurance

  •                         b. inadequate access to services driven by long-standing 

  •                          distrust of the healthcare system,

  •                         c. language barriers

  •                         d. Serious medical conditions

  •                         e. Stigma and systemic inequalities

  • ·         Development of strategies and propose solutions to address identified needs of vulnerable populations in emergencies by involving shared faith, family, cultural institutions, community organizations, healthcare systems and healthcare providers and individuals and the role of government in terms of leadership and skills development.

  • ·         Should involve the following:

  • o Goals/Objectives (at least 3)

  • o Desired Outcomes (at least 3)

  • o Programmatic Elements/Activities (at least 3: Is the relationship between activities and objectives clear?
