Your paper must answer the following prompt:
For nearly 500 years, Colonialism shaped economies, power relations, politics, diplomacy, and daily life across the world. Decolonization has allowed most colonized places to achieve independence, but the legacies of colonialism continue to impact societies.
Which legacy of colonialism represents the most urgent problem facing global society today?
1. Explain its origin. What systems gave rise to it, how did it develop? Was it particular to one place or empire, or was it experienced worldwide?
2. Show how it persisted through modernization and decolonization.
3. Analyze this problem in global society today. Which people are impacted by it, and how? How are they working to overcome this problem? What solutions to this problem are people trying, and which seems the most promising?
4. Defend your reasoning using AT LEAST 6 primary sources and 2 scholarly sources.
In addition, your paper must meet the following criteria:
- 4-6 pages in length (four minimum, a few lines into the 7th page is fine), NOT INCLUDING your title page or bibliography.
- 12pt., Times New Roman font, double-spaced with no extra spaces between paragraphs, all margins 1″, and page numbers at the top right.
- Chicago Manual of Style formatting and citations (footnotes).
- A title page and bibliography
