American Prison System: Mass Incarceration aganist African Americans with Racial Inequalities and Disparties

The purpose of this group presentation is to develop your research, collaboration, and public speaking skills while engaging with a topic relevant to a scholarly interest. You will work with your peers to create a cohesive presentation that informs and engages your audience. Your research will depend on scholarly articles found from databases provided by the Mary Livermore library. 

Group Formation:

  • You will be assigned to groups of 4-5 students.

  • Each group will choose one topic related to your group interest. 

Topic Selection:

  • Groups must submit their selected topic for approval by Wednesday, November 13. 

  • Topics should be relevant, engaging, and allow for a variety of perspectives and research sources.

Presentation Guidelines:

  • Length: 18-20 minutes

  • Format:

    • Use PowerPoint, Google Slides, or another visual aid of your choice.

    • Include at least 7 slides (not including the title slide and references).

    • 500 word reflection on your role in the group, what you learned, and self-assessment. 
    • Optional forms can incorporate GAMES, film, or podcast (up to 10 minutes)
  • Content:

    • Clearly define the topic and its significance.

    • Present relevant research and data found from library databases. 

    • Incorporate diverse perspectives from a variety of relevant and academic sources. 

    • Encourage audience engagement (e.g., questions, discussions).
