This dissertation investigates the potential of Saudi Arabia to develop distinctive country branding through the strategic utilization of its unique cultural and artistic assets. As Saudi Arabia diversifies its economy beyond oil dependency and expands its tourism sector beyond religious tourism, there is a critical need to understand how the country’s rich cultural heritage and artistic offerings can be effectively leveraged to attract tourism and investment.
Research Gap
The primary research gap this study addresses is the limited understanding of how Saudi Arabia can effectively leverage its cultural and artistic heritage to develop a distinctive and coherent country brand that attracts tourism and investment. While existing research has extensively covered religious tourism in Saudi Arabia, there is a notable lack of comprehensive studies examining the potential of cultural and artistic tourism, particularly in the context of destination branding.
