Response to Intervention (RTI) is a collaborative, multi-tiered system in which the needs of learners are identified, supported, and monitored. The components of the RTI process start with all students receiving high-quality, research-based classroom instruction. Ongoing assessment of student learning and collaboration with an RTI team are important components of a successful RTI model. Researched-based interventions can be implemented by the classroom teacher as well as qualified instructional staff. Classroom teachers play a vital role across all tiers of the RTI process and understanding the elements of a school’s RTI model is key to student growth and success. Additionally, communication and family involvement where student progress is shared regularly is essential.
Part 1: RTI Infographic
Using the topic Resources and your own research, create a one-page digital infographic that could be shared with new teachers explaining the structure of the RTI model. Briefly describe each tier by including the following information in your infographic:
- Recommended length and frequency of instruction at each tier, including recommended group size for Tier 2 and Tier 3.
- List those responsible for delivering instruction at each tier.
- At least one program, method, or strategy that supports instruction at each tier.
- Discuss appropriate assessments for each tier and assessment administration frequency.
- Provide at least one strategy for communicating with families and providing updates on student progress in each tier.
- Explain how the RTI process supports learning in all content areas.
Part 2: Reflection
Write a 500-750 word reflection justifying the information in the RTI infographic and discuss the roles of the RTI team and teacher in the RTI process. Include the following in your reflection:
- Explain how the recommended length, frequency, and group size of each tier help support students.
- Explain how the program, method, or strategy for each tier supports learning and meets diverse student needs.
- Justify why each assessment in the infographic is appropriate for the specified tier.
- Describe the RTI team, including the members of the team and their roles in the RTI process.
- Discuss the role data plays throughout the RTI process and how that is communicated to other team members.
- Discuss the importance of family communication and involvement in the RTI process.
- Describe how you will use this information in your future professional practice.
Support your assignment with 2-3 scholarly resources.
The infographic should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
Submit a link to your infographic, reflection, and resources in one document.
