Directions
Each student will submit a paper of 11—16 pages in length (not including appendices, reference, or title pages) that contains the following sections:
- Title Page: Should conform to APA guidelines. Hint: your title should frame your paper and should contain the variable(s) or concept of interest.
- Abstract: Your abstract should frame your paper. For more information about how to write abstracts, please visit this site: http://libguides.usc.edu/writingguide/abstract
- Introduction In no more than ½ page, identify the program and summarize the purpose of the paper.
- Describe the problem/need/challenge that the program addresses (~2—3 pages)
- What is the problem/challenge/need?
- Who is impacted? Is there a specific group that experiences this more than others?
- What is known about the etiology?
- The Program (~2—3 pages)
- What is the program? This should be an in-depth description of the program. Please make sure you include a history of the program and its development.
- What is the theory of change for this program?
- Please include a logic model and explain each part. This should be a chart or table. Please make sure that you use a logic model template and include inputs, activities, outputs, and outcomes (short, medium, and long). This should be a part of your text.
- Synthesis of Evaluation Studies (~5—5.5 pages)
- What can you say about the program’s functioning? Based on the studies you synthesized, what can you
- Strengths of the Program–what did the program do well?
- Limitations of the Program–what could be improved/changed to enhance the program?
*Note: This is the bulk of the paper and where you will use critical thinking skills to analyze the program. Think of this as a type of literature review of existing evaluation studies for your specific program. You will synthesize the findings from the selected evaluation studies to provide a comprehensive overview of the program’s effectiveness. Identify common themes, patterns, and discrepancies among the studies.
When thinking about the program’s functioning, you may want to consider the following questions. These will be identified based on the specific type of evaluation conducted.

VII. Recommendations (~3—4 pages)Based on your analysis, provide recommendations
for future evaluations and program improvements. Consider the following:
- Enhancements to evaluation methodologies.
- Adjustments to program design or implementation.
- Strategies to address identified limitations and biases. When thinking about this section, please reflect on the cultural appropriateness of this program and whether it is anti-racist/anti-oppressive.
VIII. Conclusion (~1—2 pages) How does synthesizing and analyzing these evaluation
studies further social work knowledge, and what are some of the implications for social
work macro and micro practice?

- Copy of your practice activity (M3.PP3: Practice and Reflection Activity 3: Literature Search) where you located and documented your studies
- Copy of instruments (if available)
