Argumentative essay based off of book’s One Blood by Pauline Hopkins and Eugenia by Eduardo Urzaiz

You are asked to develop an argumentative, evidence-based claim in response to both questions and to respond to both separately, as their own essay. Your paper project, then, should be structured in two parts. Each response should be at a minimum three full pages long and at a flexible maximum four pages in length. Prompts: Question #1, Eugenia: Does Eugenia characterize the sociopolitical landscape depicted in the novel as a utopia? If yes, how does it do so, and how does that characterization inform the way in which eugenics in the work is to be understood? If no, then how does Eugenia present critiques of or skepticism about the society and its politics, and how does that bear on the depiction of eugenics? Question #2, Black No More: What does the contrast between the intentions behind the Black-No-More procedure and the social, political, and economic responses to the procedure’s uptake imply about Black No More’s reflection on science and change? Requirements: Paper #2 must be submitted as either a Microsoft Word document or a PDF. It must formatted in size twelve, Times New Roman font and use one-inch margins, and it must be double spaced. The responses and the extra-credit opportunity are to be written in an academic style and tone. The central claim statement in both responses should be underlined. Your compositions must include textual evidence, and the evidence must include in-text citations following the quoted material in parentheses at the end of the corresponding sentence.
